My father, Duane Donley met the Barrier family during World War II and spent two Christmas' with them in 1944 and 1945. Duane fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Barriers offered a safe warm home for him during this time. Armand was only a teenager then but he was always full of life. This time with Armand and the Barrier family started a friendship that lasted forever. Since then my family has visited Armand and Marcelle several times and we have always been overwhelmed by their generosity and kindness. Armand was an inspiring patriot with a sense of humor that made every meeting a celebration of life and love. He will always be remembered as a friend of the USA and a dear friend in our hearts.
